The mint robotic cleaner was a fun way to clean the floors. It does not do a great job of cleaning, but it really does get the kids involved in cleaning. It is light weight so very easy for my 6 year old to pick up, he loves it and hassles me to use it regularly. Pros: It is very quick, almost silent, light weight, simple to use, fun to use, battery seems to be more than capable, power supply that will work with 110V or 240 volts, construction appears to be quality. Cons: Does not clean well, only good for slightly messy floors, little bit fiddly changing cloths, almost impossible to get the compatible swifter disposable wipes in Australia. I also have a neato robotic vacuum cleaner. The mint is a lot cheeper, but together they work well enough (just be prepared to use it more often than you would manually clean floors). The alternative I was looking at was the scooba, but it is was too expensive, too heavy for kids to use, and given we have very little tiled areas I could not justify it. Given what I know now, would I get a mint again. Yes! But I am the type of guy who likes these sort of things, but if you are reading this review you are probably that type of person as well.Read full review
I tried the iRobot Scooba 390 and found it to be great. I plan on buying a scooba, but saw this and thought it might suit better at it was a bit smaller & cheaper. The scooba did get stuck in chairs while the mint hasn't got stuck yet. I was pleasantly surprised how well the mint swept, I thought it would just push dirt/dust around and it does, but it dose a good job and doesn't leave bits behind. The downside is it won't last long enough to do the whole house. So I just do rooms at a time or sections at a time. The mop function seems to work well too. I sweep one day and then mop the next. I have hard wood floors and tiles I use it on. I look forward to the day when they come out with something like the scooba that can do carpets too and go to a charger when needed and then go back to work again. Overall the mint is a good product and will do the job for smaller areas, but if you need something to do more, I would go with the scooba 390.Read full review
by ladykemma Apr 06, 2021 robotic swiffer works great! This is a hard floor wiper, not a vacuum. for hard floors only! I have an arsenal of 7 mint and I-robot braava robotic swiffers. I have only Saturday to clean, so I have one for each room. I bought this from eBay because it was ten year old "new old stock", clearly hadn't been used. it did not operate when I received it, (been sitting for ten years) but I knew to put in a fresh battery into the robot (not the cube). badda bing. brand new robot. even thought this technology is ten years old, it far surpasses roomba and other random motion robots. no repetitive movements, knows how to navigate. whisper quiet, clean non-crunchy floors. First, I robot swiff, then damp wipe with the blue cloth. spray (water only) on the tile floor, let the robot damp wipe. why (water only)? chemicals will remove the tire treads. I use the fluffy, lumpy, heavy duty swiffer cloths which get in the tile cracks better than the white cloth provided with the unit. It is important to bot-proof your house. pick up chairs, trashcans, obstacles, wires, anything the bot will get tangled up, stuck, or waste battery on. In my open concept living area, I have 2x4 sticks I lay down on the ground to keep each bot in its area. Lift up furniture where the bots get trapped with pieces of wood or risers. it takes practice and preparation to make bots useful in your life, and I believe some people quit too soon. no bot will clean up cat barf , chunks, or cheerios, so I manually preclean the floor while I am putting the chairs up. A new pet is in the house...and his or her name is "Mint". And like any pet, Mint can provide some level of entertainment. Especially if you have a tech head at home. Despite a few personality quirks, Mint does a descent job of keeping household hard surface floors clean with periodic use. However, it has proven difficult to attach a gender to this new roommate. One male trait is Mint's need for a GPS (a small cube) to navigate each room of the house; otherwise, he depends on his own sense of direction which can be lacking. This cube that Evolution Robotics labeled as the NorthStar may not light up a distant solar system or attract wise men bearing gifts, but it does help Mint map a room for cleaning. Another male trait is the low maintenance required to keep Mint operational. Mint's feminine side can be seen in her ability to drive. Mint does not miss an opportunity to bump into every wall, table, chair, or anything else in her path. No worries though...the folks at Evolution Robotics added a bumper/sensor to detect the collisions that directs Mint to change direction. Even though the bumper/sensor reduces the level of impact, I suggest securing grandma's priceless china before unleashing Mint (or any other cleaning robot) on your dirty floors. Contents of Box - Mint (robot cleaner) - AC charging adapter for Mint (currently, no automatic charging dock available) - NorthStar cube (C size batteries included; these batteries were dead on arrival) - Two washable dry sweep cloths - One washable mop cloth - Owner's Manual - Quick Start Guide Unpacking & Initial Setup Mint was packaged in glossy cardboard box with a carrying handle. The box was easy to carry and open. If I had purchased Mint from an online store, the glossy cardboard box might have been placed in a plain brown cardboard box to prevent appearance damage to the glossy box. Mint was resting snugly in molded Styrofoam under the Quick Start Guide. A red insert was found on Mint's underside which I assume prevents Mint's suspension from moving during shipping. Also for protection, a removable clear plastic film covered the lens of the NorthStar Navigation sensor which is on top of Mint. Plastic film was on the sensor lens of the NorthStar Navigation cube too. While not mentioned in the owner's manual, the clear plastic film might disrupt the light signal between Mint and the cube. Of course, the plastic could help prevent scratches during use. Since the the cube sits idle, there is little danger that its lens will be scratched compared to Mint's lens. It depends on the clearances & protrusions from your furniture, doors, appliances and other "predators" that lay in wait to scratch Mint's lens. I'll let you decide the best course of action...leave the plastic film in place or remove it. Mint is designed to stand vertically on one end to allow access to the USB port, charge port, and cleaning pad on it's underside. The USB port is to allow firmware upgrades as needed. I noticed that Mint owners on a popular robot forum are suggesting a firmware upgrade to allow changing cleaning pads during a clean cycle. At the time of this writing, changing Mint's cleaning cloth during a clean cycle stops the current clean cycle. Therefore, Mint will clean the entire floor instead of just cleaning the remaining portion after changing the cleaning cloth.Read full review
I bought this one to keep clean my flat. My wife and child are mostly inside during the day, so I don't wanted to buy vacuum - it's too noisy. This thing is really great cleaning laminate floor. After dry and wet cleaning with Mint it's perfectly clean. On linoleum and tile floor results are not so great. I recommend sweeping with regular broom and mopping with Mint. Mint can navigate under my large sofa, where I can't reach by myself. Disadvantages I found: 1. Accumulator is not big enough. It can mop my flat on one charge, but cannot sweep and mop without re-charging. 2. Sometimes (rarely) it can stuck under furniture. 3. It get surface scratches over time. I will highly recommend this one if you have laminate, parquet or smooth tile. It can be great addition to robot vacuum or can be used solely.Read full review
